NMCFI Holds Groundbreaking for New Site

NMCFI held a Groundbreaking Ceremony of the new College building site at the border between Camanjac, Dumaguete City and Magatas, Sibulan, Negros Oriental last April 2, 2014 at 1600H. The proposed new structure is a four-storey College building with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment for the maritime courses such as Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation and Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering, and TESDA Seafarer Courses such as Stewarding, Deck Rating and Engine Rating.

The said ceremony began with an Invocation and the Philippine National Anthem led by Mrs. Jundith V. Arnaez, Head of Student Affairs and Services. Then, Ms. Zeth A. dela Cruz, Executive Vice-President, welcomed everyone to the event. After, the blessing of the new site was conducted by Rev. Fr. Nestor Remata, Parish Priest of Camanjac Parish. Finally, the Ceremonial Groundbreaking was held led by Capt. Edith A. Vera, PCGA, Chair/President, and C/E Joseph Alvin Olabre, Operations Manager of Virjen Shipping Company.2014NMCFIGroundBreaking3

Other distinguished guests who attended the ceremony were Dr. Henry A. Sojor, Administrative Officer of Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA), Mr. Beloy Tiongson, Representative from the Provincial Office, Mr. Loloy Elmaco, Director of NORECO II, and Capt. Felix Romo, International and Domestic Linkages Officer. The administration, faculty, staff, cadets and cadettes of NMCFI also attended the successful event.
